With any luck, by the time the cardboard breaks down the horsetail will be gone.

I wanted to invite you to participate in the carnival How to Find Great Plants. Last summer my daughter and I were training to run a full marathon and so poor hubbie had to do practically all the garden chores. I don't think he'll ever stop mentioning how hard he worked. :-)Victoria Williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16014235737941054206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2219480992269237323.post-3918111578974561092011-01-18T06:47:01.756-05:002011-01-18T06:47:01.756-05:00Great project! We'd never seen it before laying down the mulch. The same for red root - it has taken over areas and lawns where we have used mulch. The topsoil from our local nursery is even loaded with weeds. If I had to do it over, knowing what I know now - I would not buy mulch. I would only use compost that I made.Bonniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12398703193664856227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2219480992269237323.post-51643257583080228962011-01-17T14:35:03.277-05:002011-01-17T14:35:03.277-05:00Horsetail is a pest one can't get rid of I...Horsetail is a pest one can't get rid of I'm afraid had it in another yard and finally gave up and turned the garden back to grass..Rosemaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12126209675266816687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2219480992269237323.post-83139145629628425472011-01-17T12:05:49.574-05:002011-01-17T12:05:49.574-05:00I concur with Donna from GardenwalkGardentalk. But you wouldn't necessarily want any sprays getting into your pond water. That could be bad news.Margueritehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14377516887669269657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2219480992269237323.post-62933046137245307802011-01-17T06:54:53.733-05:002011-01-17T06:54:53.733-05:00I love a pond as the water feature in a garden, it...I love a pond as the water feature in a garden, its so therapeutic just sitting there after a hard day's work at the office. As sandy soil don't retain any nutrient. But clay soil stores nutrient it just takes time to break it down. We have very heavy clay soil before. But we used gypsum to help break the soil. I think you are doing a great job by adding compost.Malay-Kadazan girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09692400837667241873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2219480992269237323.post-79630830578209794852011-01-16T23:31:08.823-05:002011-01-16T23:31:08.823-05:00Horsetail require repetitive spraying.
