out of control clematis

This is my clematis that I didn't quite get trained over the top of my arbor. It decided to reach for the neighbor's yard. Didn't quite make it but it gave a good try.
Do you like the frame around my photo? I found this GREAT blog that has TONS of neat stuff to add to your blog. There were very detailed, clear instructions for adding frames to your photos. Check it out at paisleycatscrapsfreebloglayouts.blogspot.com

  1. It looks spectacular ... even though it might be out of control I do so love the masses of flowers trailing down the arbor.
This is also a lovely photo ... thanks for the tip on the blog that offers instructions on framing photos.

  4. Hi Bonnie, Paisley is fun for sure!

This happens to my Clemmies all the time and when it does I cut the entire thing down to about six inches above ground, water it well, fertilize and/or add a compost topdressing and voila, it will send up new growth and bloom before frost. Despite what you might hear or read, clemmies like to be cut back and they will recover much better when they are.

  5. Grace, I usually cut mine back in the fall, but now that it's done blooming, I may just do that now. Thanks for the tip.
