Raspberry Morning

Tuesday was a perfect morning for picking raspberries. Mine are almost done but I did manage to get almost a quart. It was so peaceful -the only sound was that of the birds singing good morning as the sky was turning pink with the rising sun; the grass moist with morning dew - then I looked at my watch, darn - time to get ready for work. Back to reality...

  1. Maybe we should add a raspberry bush in between our blueberry bushes! LOL We will have probably a total of 2 quarts of blueberries from 2 out of the 3 bushes- that aggressive bluejay got all of the flowers from the 3rd bush before we covered them! Lesson learned- cover early!

  2. I just covered my bushes yesterday. I was watching the blue jays eat my berries and decided I'd had enough! I also hung a bright, shiny CD in the bush and a plastic bag. All that distraction should keep them away. Now I just need to get out there and pick the berries.

  3. Hi Bonnie, Freshly plucked raspberries are one of the absolute highlights of the summer garden,if you ask me. I grow "everbearing" varieties so they'll keep producing until frost. They're so easy I can't imagine why every garden doesn't have them.

  4. Grace, my mother planted everbearings a couple years ago and loves them. I probably should dig mine up and put in the everbearings too.
